Question
I have installed IE7 but get the following error

An HTTP error occurred while getting:
http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx
Details: "Connect timed out"

I have found the fix on the msn website but do not understand how to implement it.They say you must create a DWORD in the registry and name it and assign a value of 1. But what this means I have not the least idea. I have got to the registry page needed and created a DWORD entry and renamed  it but as to assigning a value I am lost CAN you help please? Mike

Answer
Wow, I'm so sorry Microsoft was so unhelpful, especially as hand editing the registry is something that normally only experts do. To assign a value, look on the right hand pane of the registry. Under the heading "data" there should be the phrase:

(value not set)

Right click on (value not set)

This should bring up a box that says New. Choose DWORD value and this should let you enter the number one.

Please let me know if this doesn't work and tell me exactly what you saw in the registry.

By the way, this is outside my area of expertise, but I didn't want to leave you suffering from such poor help from the Microsoft site. You had to work hard to get as far as you did with the registry.
