Question
Okay so i downloaded a bunch of stuff and scanned it w/ Macaffe (Latest year) and it showed up clear. So i installed it. Later i try to install more things after seeing cloverfield and it says Unable to Install because of MS installer is not there etc... I go WTF? So i restart and now my Vista computer looks like it runs win 98' Its all grey and i can't even see my control panel its all blank. I try to run CMD and it says Search doesn't work. Try to Explore for it and that doesn't work. Everything doesn't work except firefox and macaffe which is scanning atm but is finding NOTHING. What happened ? All of the errors is missing dependancy except for control panel which shows up nada. Also it can't load my desktop shortcuts or sidebar.

Answer
Hi Cameron,

Even though you have McAfee installed, if you can open Internet Explorer, go to the following site, click on "Norton AntiVirus 2008 - 15 Day Trialware":

http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/symnahho/en_US/ContentTheme/ThemeID.106300/p...

I would also suggest downloading Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4, a program that removes spyware, available from:

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,22262,00.asp

Check for updates before running. If you have trouble getting the updates, near the top of the Update Window, click the little arrow next See-Cure  #1(Europe), highlight the next one on the list, See-Cure #2 and try to download the updates. If that doesn't work, try the next one the list. until you get one you can download from. Being a free program, if too many people are using the same site to download the updates, some people will not get them.

Verify that you have the latest updates by going to Windows Update.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
