Computer Security & Viruses/virus ?

Question
my computer is working properly except that when I use a search engine, any search engine ( yohoo google MSN etc )when I click on a results link , I am redirected to an unrelated advertisement. The window that is opened has no back tab and must be closed. The other effect is that my antivirus / spyware programs ( Norton 360 microsoft 1 care AVG and spydoctor ) have their Internet connection automatically terminated when attempting to update or download. Otherwise the address bar works fine, speed is good and all seems well. So far no tech assistance is familiar. I use windows xp with sp3-do I need to reload windows and if this is something new , who do I contact? -thanks ,

Answer
Hi Rob,
Are you using IE?

Heres a link to DaniWeb from a while back about a similar problem with re-directs.
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread44977.html

To get rid of this Spyware, you could try CCleaner, its free.
http://www.ccleaner.com/

But to get rid of it completely, you will need "Hijack This" a program to survey your computer and it makes a log you can submit to a help Forum like DaniWeb or MajorGeeks.

Basically you dnload the Hijack This program, run it and save the log results. Then you register at a reliable help Forum like DaniWeb or MajorGeeks and submit the log. A experienced user will help you with cleaning your computer.

Hope this helps.
