Question
QUESTION: Here is the "Hijack this" log of my mothers computer!  It is running really slow on start up and it will boot certain programs numerous times on start up!  e.g.--Last time I restarted,  the Volume control center opened 70 times!!  I have done all of the basic procedures to combat the slow start up. e.g.- Degrag, disk cleanup, Malware and spyware removal, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

ANSWER: Hi Bill

You didn't say which malware scans you have done, but there are still a few unwanted processes running.  Let's try running a Malwarebytes scan, preferably in Safe Mode.  Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop from here:

http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
   o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.  Do not run a scan yet.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key on boot until a black screen with a menu appears.  Choose to Start Windows in Safe Mode.  Log on as usual.  Open Malwarebytes and run a Full Scan.

* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.  Save that log and reboot normally.

Next, I would like for you to run a ComboFix scan.  Please download ComboFix from here and save to your desktop:

Please disable your antivirus application for now, as this may interfere with the removal process.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Note - Your internet connection will be terminated while ComboFix runs. Do Not attempt to re-enable it. Should ComboFix terminate prematurely, restart the computer to restore connectivity.
Don't use your mouse or keyboard while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished and after reboot (in case it rebooted), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt.
Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with the Malwarebytes log and a new hijackthis log.
