Computer Security & Viruses/Antivirus vs Antivirus

Question
Why is it "bad" to have more than one antivirus on your computer?
But is it ok to have more than one anti spy/adware?

Answer
Dear Kayla,

My analogy: An antivirus application is like the oil in a car, the firewall is like the oil filter, and applications including anti-spy/adware, like everything else.

What I'm really saying is, can't top the following, a bit more detailed: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic186533.html
See also: "pcsupportforums.com/computer-forum what you should not have...".  There's a link on Queen-Evie's reply.

Hope that helps!
