Question
QUESTION: I am infected with a program that keeps telling me that I am infected with Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger. It asks me if I want to remove the infection. If I click on “yes” it takes me to a website asking about my personal information, and my credit card number so I can purchase their software. This makes no since to me since I never downloaded the program to begin with. I also have my own spy ware software that tells me there are no infections on my system.
I tried the following suggestion:
1. Ran a Malwarebytes scan in Safe Mode. I downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here: http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
2. I Double-clicked mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
a. At the end, I made sure a checkmark was placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
b. I then clicked Finish.
c. Updates were found, and downloaded.
d. I restarted the computer in Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key on boot.
e. I then ran a Full Scan with Malwarebytes.
f. No problems were found.
g. I saved the log and rebooted normally.
3. After rebooting, I ran HijackThis from
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe
I saved the log file and pasted it in Malwarebytes log.
I am also aware
Winweb Security is a SCAM!
It will steal critical/personal information!
It reports that Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger is the culprit, but that is not the case. Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger is either a part of Winweb, or does not exist.
Another suggestion is to restart your computer in Safe Mode, then search all files including
hidden files and folders for:
1806188250 and to delete the file
That is the filename that Winweb goes by.
I would be afraid to do this without expert advice.
I also saved my log files and will try to attach them to this message.

Check for updates before running a scan.
If that doesn't remove it, even though you Norton installed, using Internet Explorer, go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym
Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.
Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/ and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.

QUESTION: Hi Lorry,
Spybot did not remove the virus. The symantec program did not run saying that the version of Norton antivirus I have on my computer is more powerful than the free version. So the problem is not fixed. It is an annoying pop up menu that displays about every 10 minutes saying my computer is infected with Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger. And if I click on the button to remove the virus, I am taken to a website asking for my credit card number to purchase software to remove this virus.

Hi Bill,
Just did it myself, after closing the window telling to continue using NAV, I got the window that lets you run a free virus scan. That is what I think would help you. Try it again and see if you get the window that offers both a Security Scan and a Virus scan.
Another way to get to that page would be to go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp
Click on Continue to Symantec Security Scan, once there click on Start under Virus detection.
