Computer Security & Viruses/"internet exsplorer" virus

Question
My computer has been functioning poorly the last few days (Windows XP operating system up to date on all patches/fixes).  Last night I noticed the desk top icon for Internet Explorer was mispelled.   I'm running Norton 360 security package and firewall as well as Spybot search and destroy regularly and they don't detect any problems.   Is there somekind of new virus/worm/trojan doing this?

Answer
I can't find anything about any viruses or trojans doing this. Have you tried to right click on the icon and rename it back to the right spelling?

Another thing is have you tried not using IE at all? I don't use it anymore. Mozilla Firefox is much more secure and much faster.
