Computer Security & Viruses/possible infection

Question
Hi Brian,

My note book has a 60 GB hard drive. The files and programs stored on it total about 28 GB. However when I check the properties of the disc, it shows that 57 GB is being used. I never consciously stored any hidden files.
I have scanned the system with several anti-virus and anti-spyware programs (Spy Doctor, Zone Alarm), but nothing was found. Could there be some sort of infection on my system?
I use Vista.

Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Mike

It's unlikely a virus would take up that much space on the drive.  One suggestion to see what is taking up space is to download the free program WinDirStat.  Running it will give you a graphical representation of your drive, separated into sections.  Each section can be clicked on by the cursor to see the program or file.  Check it out here:

Let me know how it works out for you.  If you want to continue further to check for infection, send me a HijackThis log and I will be happy to analyze it for you.  Instructions can be found here:
