QuestionHello
i have an internet security question.
there is a service provided by a cell phone service provider; its a USB 3G modem, its a usb device that you plug into the computer and it provide you with an internet connection anywhere with speed approximately 3 Mb/sec...
my question is how do they differ than a regular Adsl or dsl connection to a NAT router.. especially in the security field
do they give you a changeable IP
do they provide the security that comes with NAT routers..etc
thanks
AnswerI have never heard anything bad about any of the wireless internet formats as far as security. All send encrypted data. The main thing you will want to have on your PC is a good firewall. I would recommend ZoneAlarm. It is free and is very hard to penetrate. You can download it from here.

I'm not sure how often the IP is changed on that type of connection. Your IP of your pc will most of the time be the same. I have satellite internet and the IP changes almost every time I boot up my PC. If you want to hide your IP you can try the many free surfing sites such as www.vtunnel.com and www.the-cloak.com .
You can also use pay services such as Anonymizer.
