Computer Security & Viruses/use of Zone Alarm

Question
I recently downloaded Zone Alarm to my computer. However,I don't understand anything about granting internet access to programs. This is all confusing to me. Can you help me understand what I should do?

Answer
When ZoneAlarm pops up asking if you want to allow a program to access the internet, you need to read what program is trying to access the internet. If it is something you are familiar with, check the "remember my decision" check box and click "allow". For programs that you are unsure about I would click "block" but don't check the "remember this" box until you know for sure. I know it is worrisome at first but it will keep you safe in the future. If you block something and a program you often use will no longer work you will know to allow it next time.
There is also a place in the program with a list of the programs on your computer and you can set them to "allow", "block", or ask for internet access. Open the program and I believe it is under one of the tabs.

Maybe I have been thorough enough? If not let me know if you have any more questions.
