Computer Security & Viruses/Anti-Virus Software

Question
I’ve had Norton Corporate AntiVirus software on my computer for years. I’ve finally decided to uninstall it and install the free version of AVG since it was so highly recommended.
When I uninstalled Norton I received a fatal error but presumably the program still uninstalled (I don’t know if I have to check further for files or just seeing that it is removed from my programs is enough).
I then removed Symantec LiveUpdate. I got a message that other programs are using it and that I should uninstall them first, but I wasn’t able to find those programs. So I just uninstalled Symantec LiveUpdate as well.
I still have an icon in my task bar for Norton Corporate edition and can still click on it to do a live update. I’m not sure why that is possible and what I must do to uninstall the program (and maybe other files associated with the program) especially since it looks like the program has already been uninstalled.
I installed AVG and it’s now scanning my C drive. I’m also noticing that everything has slowed up substantially when AVG scans my in and out emails. I don’t know how to speed that up.
I basically need help as I am not sure how to proceed.
AnswerHi Steven,
This is a very common occurrence. Its very hard to completely remove Norton.
I always refer users to this link. Its the "Completely Uninstall Norton Tool" available at Symantec.

I think this will clean things up. Let me know if you still have problems.
Take care,
