Computer Security & Viruses/Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error Problem

Question
QUESTION: Hi there i am hoping that you can help me out and i will try to be as descriptive as possible so you get the full scope of my problem.
OK a couple of weeks ago for some reason my FireFox would not open , so i decided to uninstall it and reinstall it think that it would fix the problem. However, each time i would attempt to reinstall it i kept getting that there was a file that was corrupt. This file is the components. I have attempted to delete this file in both normal and safe mode with no luck. I have also tried renaming the file and deleting it in both normal and safe mode. Each time i attempt to delete the file is states "Cannot delete component: the directory is not empty", however, the file folder is empty. I have also run my computer virus scan in both normal and safe mode and there is has been no problem detected.
Finally, in the past few days my computer has been going to a blue screen that states my computer is having an Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error. I have no idea what this is, but the screen tells me to uninstall all the new programs i put on my computer. Problem is there is only one that has only been on my computer less that 2 weeks. I have uninstall the program, but i am still getting the error message. For some reason i believe my 2 problems are connected. Any help that you can think of for me to try would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Janine

ANSWER: Hi Janine

The Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error is usually indicative of faulty hardware.  You will need to take down the error codes listed below the heading and compare them to the ones found here:
http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/images/kernel_data.htm
We can try to ascertain if there is a virus at work here stopping you from deleting the file you described.  Please download TrendMicro HijackThis! from the following link:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe
* Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
* Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log (no attachments) into a follow-up here.
* DO NOT use the AnalyzeThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
* DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what HJT lists will be harmless or even required by your Operating System.

ANSWER: Hi Janine

There are a few missing entries that you should fix.  Please run HJT (scan only) and place a check mark in the box next to the following items, then click the Fix Checked button:

As for your file deletion error, I would suggest trying to remove it using the program Unlocker.  It's a great little utility that has helped me to remove so-called access rights on files.  Read about it and download here:
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Good luck, and let me know if that helped.

QUESTION: Hi Brian,
I deleted thos files that you suggseted and i attempted to delete the file usinf the unlocker program, however, it was not able to delete it. When i was trying to delete it, a balloon came up saying that the filw was corrupt and to run a chk dsk. Not too sure how to run the check dsk application that it is talking about. Would you by chance know.
Thank you for all your help so for.

Answer
Hi Janine

Double-click My Computer.
Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click
Properties.
Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan
detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report problems but not fix them.
To perform a thorough disk check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the hard disk itself, and it can take much longer to complete.
To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
Click Start.
Depending upon the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes.
For best results, don't use your computer for any other tasks while it's checking for errors.
Note:
If you select Automatically fix file system errors for a disk that is in use(for example, the partition that contains Windows), you'll be prompted you to reschedule the disk check for the next time you restart your computer.

Just a question for you.  You said you reinstalled Firefox, but did you do a complete reinstall by creating a new profile and deleting the old one?  There is a procedure which you should follow when reinstalling Firefox.  Look at the Mozilla site below for instructions and tips:
