Computer Security & Viruses/Secure Web sites

Question
Hi, Doug;

I'm not too computer savvy, but over the last few days, my laptop has developed a problem. I can go to sites such as Ebay, Hotmail.com, Yahoo, etc. with no problem.  I can navigate the sites fine.  But if I try to log in, I get the "unable to open page" page.  This is only on the laptop.  I can access my email and "My Ebay" from other comps.  I wondered if somewhere I have told the laptop not to allow entry into secured sites - ?  I have IE and Firefox, and this happens on both browsers.  Any ideas??   Thanks!

Answer
Hi Mike,
Have you done any MS updates lately? Sounds like a .dll is corrupt.
These solutions should work.

As for Firefox, there are settings that you can check.

Scroll down to the "Error loading websites" section.

Its really interesting that both browsers will not load secure sites. Have you changed your Firewall settings?
Or maybe your Internet provider has changed something. You may need to contact them.

Hope this helps.
