Question
My computer has been acting funny lately.  I access the internet through Internet Explorer.  When I go to google or yahoo and put in a search querry and then click on a website, my computer does not go to that website, it gets redirected to another website, usually another search engine, a gambling website or dating website.  This does not happen when I access the internet through Netscape and use google, but still happens using Netscape and using yahoo.  I have run Norton's current comprehensive virus/spyware scan removal program and it has identified and removed a few threats, but this problem still persists.  Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Erik,

When you say you ran "Norton's current comprehensive virus/spyware scan", are you saying you have Norton installed or that you went to the site:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym?

I would suggest downloading Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2 from:

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

Make sure that you check for updates before running a scan.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
