Computer Security & Viruses/Overheating?

Question
Hi Brian, I hope that you can help me. I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-7444 running Vista and when I first bought it (11/2007) It ran great. Shortly thereafter, it started to shut down randomly and it was very hot to the touch near the fan and on the palm rest. I read it could be a heatsync issue and Toshiba tech support was no help. Finally in Jan. AMD sent out a BIOS update in which I promptly installed and the problem is fixed! However, the computer is still running very warm, even with a laptop cooling pad. Should I still take it in and have the heatsync looked at? Thank you very much!

Answer
Hi Ryan

From the posts I have been reading, the problem is actually with the AMD processor.  It seems you have a lot of company in regards to your experience with Toshiba tech support.  In any event, try the following:
Go to Power Options in the Control Panel.  It doesn't matter which settting you have chosen, just click on "Change plan settings" below the options.  Then click on "Change advanced power settings."  Under "Processor Power management" change the minimum and maximum settings for both on and off battery to 100%.
Let me know if this works for you.  Cheers!

Brian
