Expert: Lorry - 3/26/2008
Questionfrom time to time, my mouse will go nuts and start trying to click on various programs. But mainly it goes to taskmaster or start menu or my profile. It';; try to delete the windows i have open aswell. Spybot finds nothing so i'm guessing it's something far more serious. Not the mouse since i've replaced it a few times already.
AnswerHi Sam,
You updated Spybot before running the scan, correct? Have you tried cleaning the mouse? The following site explains how to clean the mouse:
http://www.ehow.com/how_3665_clean-mouse-computer.html
Using Internet explorer, go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym
Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.
Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to:
http://www.symantec.com/search/ and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.
Verify that the connections mouse to computer are secure. Try updating the drivers for the mouse.
