Question
I have TuneUp Utilities 2007.  It has been working very well for the past 3 months but when I click the "1 Click Maintenance" and on Analysing Programss, it stopped and gave me a message " Access violation at address 7E419DE9 in module "user 32.dll'. Read address 02E8B7B4. what does this mean.  I removed and reinstalled it again but still did not work.  Hope you can help. Thanks

Answer
Hi Dodie

This could be caused by a number of factors, so we need to narrow things down.

1. Install all important updates from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate
2. Reboot, then try to run the program that did not start again.
3. If the problem still occurs, let's do a virus check.  Please download TrendMicro HijackThis! from the following link:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe
* Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
* Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log (no attachments) into a follow-up here.  I will analyze the log and advise you if there is a malware concern.  If not, we will need to delve further into the error.
