Question
Thanks for your quick response yesterday, I did as you suggested and went via symantec to check viruses and thankfully there are none. I have defrag the pc often before do you have any other suggestions as to why it maybe sluggish.

Glad to hear there are no viruses on board, that is always good news! Try downloading Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2 fro free from:
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html
Check for updates before running a scan.
