Computer Security & Viruses/Popups and Malware

Question
When I start my Computer up I get this icon at the bottom right hand side with the volume and other stuff that looks like the Windows XP security center ballon but has other programs on it which are called Advanced XP Defender, Advanced XP Fixer and SystemDefender, these programs make links on the desktop when I start up aswell. They are really irritating becuase they always give me these popups that say that I have such and such virus. I also get popups by Outerinfo, even though I delete the software from add/remove programs I still get them, My start button and the Icons dissapear. Sounds like a lot but its doing my head in, it takes a very long time to do anything, websites are really slow even though I am gettin 6.3mb. I have tried Spyware Doctor both in normal and safe mode but to no avail, please could you help. Thanks

Answer
Hi Arfan

   *Please download SmitFraudFix from here:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe

   *  Restart your computerinto Safe Mode. Before the Windows loading screen appears, keep pressing F8 until you see the boot menu. Select Safe Mode.
   * Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
   * Select 2 and press Enter to clean your system by deleting infected files.
   * You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? Answer Y (yes) and press Enter in order to remove the hijacked Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
   * SmitFraudFix will then check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? Answer Y (yes) and press Enter to restore a clean file.
   * You will have to restart your computer in order to finish the spyware removal process. You can find a report on spyware removal at the root of the system drive. Usually it will be located at C:\rapport.txt.
   * Include that report, along with a fresh HJT log in your next reply.  I won't need the HJT startup list report, just the process scan.
