Computer Security & Viruses - new computer

Expert: Carolyn Meinel - 6/28/2008

Question
I have a new computer coming from Dell and it has the macafee security for 30 days I think--I am on DSL and also have a router--is there anything I should do before hooking into the dsl line as in security--I'm really no wiz at this computer either.---thanks for any help

Answer
Just be certain McAfee Security is installed first. On many new computers they have an icon for a security program such as McAfee, and you have to double click it to get it to begin installing. Then wait for both McAfee and Windows Update to install all their updates that they download from the Internet before adding your backup data and installing applications just in case any malware is hiding in them.
