Computer Security & Viruses - AVG antivirus

Expert: Carolyn Meinel - 8/21/2008

Question
Hi Carolyn

My AVG antivirus said it found two viruses. However, it said it cleaned 0 and deleted 0. I then moved them to the virus vault. Did I do the correct thing?

I could not find a log with the name of the virus which I could copy the name of. I thought it would be an idea to find out some info on it to see how serious it was. Do you think I should find out more about it and how do I do so?

I have Win 2000.

Your help will be appreciated
Regards Richard.

Answer
Don't worry about the viruses AVG finds. There are many thousands of different viruses and other sorts of malware and they are often quite complicated, so even a total genius would have a hard time understanding how every one that attacks your computer works. As long as your antivirus program is working, you can relax knowing that an entire team on geniuses is keeping AVG up to date in defending your computer.
