Upon reboot it tried doing a disc scan but froze and then just hung in reboot after that - tried puting a sysem disc in the dvd player - it wont read it and when i put a new hard drive in it comes back NTLDS error - what's going on?

Answer
Hi David

Boot with your XP CD in the cd drive. Select 'To repair Windows' by pressing 'R'.  When the Recovery Console loads, type the following:

copy D:\i386\ntldr C:\

Where D is the letter of your CD drive and C is the letter of your system drive.  After it finishes, take the XP CD out of the cd drive and reboot XP normally.  If that doesn't work, please let me know and we'll try to troubleshoot further.
