Expert: Lorry - 8/1/2008

Question
Hello Lorry, I originally was being helped by Brian. My last post was on the 5th of July but my power adapter broke and  I was unable to service my computer until now. Hi Terrell,

Noticed that you have TrendMicro and Symantec running, you should only have one anti-virus program at any given time. Saying that, I would suggest using Internet Explorer and go to:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.

Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/  and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.

Once that is done, download Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6 from:

Check for updates before running a scan. Like a lot of other free programs, Spybot has to manually updated but it is a great program that removes spyware.
