AboutLorry Expertise I can answer most questions regarding viruses/Trojans and help to remove them.
Experience This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
Question Hi Lorry,
I need some help removing a "Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.JOC". I have a free edition of AVG, which detects the virus and moves it to its vault, but when I delete the virus and run another scan, it's still there?
I also have Ad-Aware free edition which gives me the same result. I also purchased PC tools Spyware Doctor for $29.95 but, they want more money for the additional virus removal and online support portion of their program.
I'm using Microsoft XP, my PC is Intel Celeron 3.33 GHz, 504 MB of RAM.
Can you help?
Answer Hi Pamela,
Disable System Restore before removing the virus, now run the scan and remove the virus, reboot Windows. Verify that it is off Windows, enable System Restore. System Restore backs up selected files automatically, meaning that an infected file could be stored there as a backup file, and VirusScan will be unable to delete these files.
To disable System Restore, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.
