Question
Hey, my girlfriend has something nasty on her computer, it has stopped Norton antivirus from loading fully (it begins initializing then disappears, when i try to restart it it does the same)
the malware also appears to have some strange side-effects including emptying the Games folder (just solitiare and stuff) and the entertainment folder in accessories
she downloaded AVG free and it says she has
trojan horse downloader.swizzor.a
or something....
so we cant locate or delete it, as we cant get norton to open?
help please?

I will need to determine exactly what is running in order to offer a course of action to you. Please download HijackThis! to your desktop from here:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe
Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Install" button.
Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
Choose 'Do a system scan and save a log file'.
Copy the text file which opens in Notepad and paste it in a follow-up here. I will analyze the log and get back to you with removal instructions.
