Computer Security & Viruses/Having problems with my laptop and I think its from a virus
Expert: Lorry - 8/4/2008
QuestionI had a Trojan that was found on my laptop along with a virus. I have since reformatted my Toshiba x205-s9349 several times and I still have little issues with it. When I boot up sometimes it gets stuck at the Toshiba window until I hit a button. Other times when I click on a folder I get spammed with a "are you sure you want to delete this item" window. I had a friend remove the ram and tried that but I still am having problems.
AnswerHi Victor,
Using Internet Explorer, go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym
Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.
Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to:
http://www.symantec.com/search/ and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.
Hope this helps!
