Question QUESTION: I have used Internet Explorer as my browser for years. I only recently learned that there were other options, and that Explorer could be a bad pick. I now use Firefox, but still have Explorer on my system. I use Outlook as my email program. I'd like to uninstall Explorer, but not lose Outlook. I looked in control panel under 'add remove programs', but didn't see Outlook listed. I am worried that I'll lose it if I just uninstall the Explorer. Can you tell me how to uninstall explorer and leave outlook intact?
Thanks
ANSWER: Outlook is not as secure as using online email such as yahoo, hotmail, and google. I use Firefox but keep IE on my PC because some sites (rare but it happens) are not supported by Firefox. It is not going to hurt anything if you have both browsers on your PC.
What I would really like to stress to you is the insecurity of Outlook. When using Outlook emails are downloaded to your PC. When using online email you are looking at them on a server. Nothing is downloaded to your computer unless it is an attachment or you want it to be.
One of the first rules of PC security is don't use outlook.
If I can help you further, let me know.

QUESTION: I understand your point on the web based email. Is it possible to forward all emails from my current address to a web based email address and check from there? I would like to maintain my current email address.
Answer Yes, you can forward email and much more including transferring your whole contact list.
Yahoo now has other addresses available also like @ymail.com and @rocketmail.com to open up many other likely email addresses. I got in so early on ymail that I was able to obtain my initials and last name as my email address to use as my business email.
Yahoo and hotmail have made it very easy to not only transfer everything over but also contact everyone on your contact list of your new email address while still being able to keep your old one.
Go to yahoo mail and you will be able to see all the options. One thing I didn't mention before was the ability on all the online email clients I listed to easily filter out junk mail.
Let me know how you come out.
