Computer Security & Viruses/Google Search

Question
When doing a google basic search it takes an extra few seconds. All the search results show the right information but the url takes me to a commercial site with advertised sales of various products. It seems the search function has been pirated.  This is only with Firefox.  Opera and IE and Flock, etc. are okey.

If I use advanced search it is okey.  I have run several spyware detectors and virus checks and cannot find the gremlin.

Got any ideas for me to try?  Thanks.

Answer
It is definitely a hijacker. Have you gone to where you set your home page and tried to change it. If it is not a bad hijacker you can probably change the homepage to what you want it to be and it will go away. If it hijacks it again you will need to do some more searching with some anti-spyware program. Some programs will not search or detect things associated with Firefox. Have you tried Spybot Search and Destroy? It will search for problems associated with IE and Firefox along with many other browsers.

Let me know if you have tried spybot search and destroy. It is a free download and can be found at www.snapfiles.com.
