Keith:  You recently advised me to replace the USB cable from the printer to the PC (to see if this solved a log file problem.)  I've bought a higher-quality USB cable.  My question:  Do I need to uninstall the printer -- or just turn if off -- to switch USB cables?  Thanks!

I would do both (uninstall and turn off). If you have your printer instructions you may want to consult them in whether to hookup the printer (with printer powered on) to the PC before or after you turn the PC on. Some say it doesn't matter but others say you get a better plug and play when you plug the printer to the PC after computer start-up.
