Expert: Brian Benosky - 1/25/2009

Brian you previously helped me to clean up viruses on this PC and the internet now works much faster.  However, the computer is still extremely slow to start up.  I timed it today and this is what its like:
2:01 restarted computer
2:11 selected a user profile
2:12 Host process for windows services stopped working
2:15 Logitech desktop messenger has stopped working message
2:16 Windows live messenger start up window
2:16 My Space start up window
2:18 problem reports and solutions pop up (nothing listed)
2:19 Total care advisor begins to open
2:23 Total care advisor is finished opening
2:24 Computer is now operational.

So as you can see it takes a full 23 minutes to be operational.  The machine is an HP Pavillion a1700n and has Windows Vista Home Premium.  It is about 2 years old.

If you have any ideas to make it faster I would appreciate the help.

Hi Pam

Yes, something is wrong, so we'll need to check hardware and software to determine where the problem lies.  First, I would like to have a look at a log from Belarc Advisor.  Download it here:
http://www.belarc.com/Programs/advisor.exe
Run and install it, then it will open a web page with results.  I will need for you to save the page as .html then email it to me as an attachment at numbersix6@yahoo.com.
After I get a chance to read through it, I'll email you directly with further steps.
