System security popped up all of a sudden stating I had security issues and to submit my credit card number to purchase a solution. Norton Anti-Virus scan shows no issues. Deleted what I could of the SYSTEM SECURITY program but it still keeps popping up. Please advise.
ANSWER: Hi Larry
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop from here:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
o and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Copy that log into a follow-up here, along with a new HJT scan log.

QUESTION: Brian:
Thanks for your help. When I did the full scan, everything was going ok for awhile. It found 2 infected objects out of about 117,000. But then the system just seemed to die. Based on the number of objects there are in a Norton scan, at the rate it was going, it would take 24-48 hours to complete the scan. So I did a quick scan and it found 3 objects out of 48,000 (the two objects in full scan were found in the beginning, relatively speaking). I removed the objects. Below is the log you requested.

AnswerHi Larry
The Full Scan should take no more than a few hours to complete, most of the time much less. Most likely, Norton is hindering the cleanup process. Start the computer in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key continuously on boot until a menu appears. Choose to start Windows in Safe Mode. Log in as usual, then run the Full MBAM scan. When it is done, copy that log to me, and please include a new HijackThis scan log in your follow-up.
