Expert: Lorry - 1/4/2009

I have recently set up my Verizon Internet Security Suite, (once Norton was cancelled by Yahoo), and it has scanned my system, finding 3 viruses, as described below, and 4 Spywares, also, as described below. I would like to know if you can tell me how to eliminate them from my system, without destroying, or deleting necessary files to run my computer. Viruses titled; 1) Trojan-Downloader.Java.OpenStream.c  2)Trojan.Win32.Agent.aiha ,  3) Trojan.Win32.Agent.aigh

Hi Mary,

Using Internet Explorer, go to:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp

Click "Continue to Symantec Security Check", in the next window click No when asked if you want to close this window, that will bring you to a window where you should click Virus Detection.

Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/  and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.

Check for updates before running a scan.
