Question
QUESTION: help my PC is totally messed up. I just bought defender pro 2009 at walmart to help clean up the registry. I am currently unable to see any pictures online, and i am getting a message stating that viewmgr has closed due to a problem. I was unable to edit anything with the registry, which i have temporarily fixed, and i am unable to turn on the firewall. Even though i should have access alot of the areas of my computer are not accesable to me anymore, and the screen is gone and there is a warning screen up instead. please help if you can, i cant deal with going online and not having visuals.

ANSWER: Hi Kelli

Please download ComboFix from this link:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
Save it to your desktop.
Double-click on the ComboFix icon found on your desktop. Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall.  You should now press the number 1 key and then press the enter key to continue.  ComboFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.  If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. ComboFix may also restart your computer.  Do not intervene.  Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.  It will then display the log file automatically for you.

Next, please download TrendMicro HijackThis! from the following link:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe
* Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
* Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log into a follow-up to me, along with the ComboFix log.

Hi Kelli

You're not being a pain, and I can certainly understand the frustration.  I will send you the files you need directly to your email, if you wish.  My address is numbersix6@yahoo.com.  Just send me a note and I'll attach the files in a reply.
