Question
We have an HP Pavilion a1700n, it has Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.  The kids have done who know what to it!!!  I can not get it to work.  The screen went blank and the keyboard lights went off.  I turned off the computer in the hopes that it would be functional when turned back on.  However when I turn it on the screen provides 3 options esc, F10, and F11.  The problem is that the keyboard won't stay working.  The lights come on at first but immediately turn off.  So I am stuck...Please help.

Thanks Pam

Answer
Hi Pam

If the keyboard is USB, that may be where the problem lies.  Try using an old non-USB keyboard if you can get your hands on one.  Even if the original keyboard is not USB, try using a different one.  Let me know if you have success with that.
