Computer Security & Viruses/RAS Async Adapter

Question
I am using Computer Associates Firewall and since installing it every time I connect to the Internet it asks me do I want the RAS async adapter in Home or Public. I am not on a Network this is purely a home computer. Is there anything I can do to stop the Firewall asking about the RAS async adapter? I am on Windows XP. Thank you Patricia

Answer
Patricia,

Hoping for an easy, simple fix for your problem, Click Start > Control Panel > (Classic View) > System > Remote > and Uncheck Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop (if checked) > Apply > OK, close and restart your computer. If that doesn't remove the message, you'll need to decide how you'd like to proceed with me. If it works great; if it doesn't, and either one was checked, we've hardened your core system security.

It's not a common problem and may require some in-depth analysis of your system. Realizing you likely won't understand it all, I'd like you to glance over the following posts to get some idea of what may be involved in case I advise you to do a certain thing based on what additional info I may ask you to provide:

Since it apparently didn't happen before you installed Computer Associates Firewall, consider too that it may be something they can resolve - in which case you might ask them for assistance - either the Forum or Technical Support, unless you'd like to proceed with me.
