Question
I have Windows XP and have been using the free AVG programs for several years.  Now they tell me I must upgrade to 9.  I have tried numerous times to do this.  When the files start installing, I can never get past 9% completion.  What is wrong?

Answer
Nancy,

Try the following steps (URL below) posted by an AVG manager (ondraploteny). However, after downloading 9 to Desktop, consider also uninstalling 8.5, rebooting and then try installing 9.

A) AVG Full installation file
- use AVG full installation file from this direct link - http://free.avg.com/download-file-ins-afg-free
- or use this link http://download.avgfree.com/filedir/inst/avg_free_stf_en_90_707a1765.exe in your download manager with resume function

B) System performance
- check you are using enough operating memory (512+ MB RAM) and CPU frequency (1.5 GHz)
- check free space on C:\ drive

C) Other protection applications
- disable (uninstall) all other protection applications (check for possible remains of already uninstalled)

If you still can't install it, please let me know.
