Computer Security & Viruses/Computer noises and unauthorized debit card charges
Expert: James Filmer - 2/25/2009
QuestionWhen I am on the internet my computer makes different noises through the speakers. It started with a door opening and closing, then my kids were watching fred videos on youtube, a few days later out of the blue the guy in the videos comes on the speakers saying oh my god, recently I started looking for horse supplies and now another noise is a horse naying. It does all three noises now the door opening and closing, this kid fred that says oh my god, and a horse naying. It only makes the noises when I am online. Just out of the blue. I have a firewall, online armour, and spybot Im not sure if its a virus but nothing comes up on any of the scans.
I also recently had unauthorized charges on my debit card that I only use through paypal and both charges were for online companies. I have never used my cards online only through paypal because it is suppose to be secure and not give your card number when you do a transaction so somehow the security has been breeched one of the companies said that someone is hacking into paypal accounts. How can I be sure if it is that or someone getting into my computer? How can I keep my paypal account safer?
AnswerSeveral issues - possibly not all related to security and viruses (my forte).
As far as "noises", if you or another user didn't authorize it, spyware or malware of some sort. On the other hand, you may have authorized malware by mistake.
Have you engaged your Spybot Hosts file and other blocking tools in Advanced? Do you have another anti-spyware application? What browser do you use? Is there more than one user with administrative privileges?
Need more info. For now, try a-squared free.

Run two scans, removing threats and rebooting each time. Please Let me know of number or size of the spyware, cookies, worms...files it says to delete or remove.
Also, you didn't mention the name of your anti-virus application. Spybot is not anti-virus.
About Paypal, they should be contacted for help with the our accounts security, as more info is given to account holders.
