Question
Hi Brian

Malwarebytes eventually installed but just cannot get it to run. Combofix will not install on the infected machine - name change etc despite.

I'm giving you a lot of hasle here!

Hi Allan

I hate it when a computer gets obstinate!  My advice is, on another computer, to download and burn Hiren's Boot CD from here:

Take the CD to the affected computer, and boot directly to the CD.  There are many tools on the disc, but you should concentrate on running a virus and spyware scan.  Also run Rootkit Revealer.  A list of programs on the Boot CD can be found here:

The last resort, if nothing else works, is to do a repair install or complete re-install of Windows.  Instructions are here:
