Computer Security & Viruses/I can't get rid of old Spy Sweeper

Question
Dear James,

I hope my question will qualify. I need help.

I just bought the new Spy Sweeper, but I can't uninstall the old one. When I go to Control Panel to remove it, it says, C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\Unins000.dat file is corrupted. Can't uninstall. I've tried to manually delete that fil by Windows Explorer, but when I return to Uninstall I get a message telling me that it can't because that particular file is missing. On top of that, when I manually try to get rid of everything in Explorer, it says, "Cannot delete AntiVirus: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that file is not currently in use."

This is a problem I had several months ago, where I noticed whenever I would try to update the spy definitions, my computer would get weird. I would have to restart the computer from a different date just to get it normal again.

I need help. Can you tell me what might be happening, and how I can completely remove what seems to be a corrupt version of Spy Sweeper?

Thanks for your time and patience.

David.

Answer
Hi David,

The free version of Revo Uninstaller http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html might work.

If you'd rather manually find/remove the right files, just let me know.
