Question
QUESTION: Hi Brian, I decided to uninstall and then reinstall my service providers security service and I am now able to access websites but when I click on a specific site, I am taken to other sites and I have to use the back button to get to the site I want.  What have I got now?

ANSWER: Hi Eva

As the problem seems to stem from your ISP's security suite, try uninstalling it, restart, then see if you are still having the problem.  If not, then of course don't reinstall the software again.  COGECO Security may be the cause.  If so, I can recommend free security programs for you that won't cause the redirects.  Keep me informed.

QUESTION: Hi Brian, before I reinstalled the security software, I tested IE7 and I was able to access websites but it was redirecting me at that point so I don't think it is the security software. Any other suggestions. Thanks

Answer
Hi Eva

I'm never at a loss for suggestions. :-)
Try the following:
  1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Delete Browsing History.
  3. In Delete Browsing History, click Delete All.
  4. Click to select the Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons check box, and then click OK.

You can also try to run Internet Explorer 7 in "No Add-Ons" mode. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box.
  2. Click Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons). Internet Explorer 7 opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
  3. Test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly.

Let me know if it works.
