QUESTION: Hey Brian

Too many follow ups, but when I try to start SDFix, this command prompt comes up, then I get the send report message telling me that command prompt has crashed.

I tried the troubleshooting on the website, but still no luck

ANSWER: Hi Matt

It looks like the malware caused a corruption to Windows' file system.  Do you have the XP CD which came with the computer?  If so, you should run Windows System File Checker utility.  Before that, let's run one more scan to be sure you got all the viruses cleaned out.  Open IE and go to:
http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/
Run the online scan and take any action it recommends.
After the scan, please read through the steps to run System File Checker here:
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
Basically, you will insert the XP CD, click Start->Run->then type sfc /scannow and press Enter.  The checker will repair damaged system files by replacing them with good ones from the CD.  
Keep me updated on your progress.

QUESTION: Hey Brian,

I ran the scanner and it deleted 35 files.  

However for the windows disk, the only copy I have is different from the copy that was installed on the computer, I tried it anyway, however after typing the command into Run, the command prompt flashes up and before I know it it's gone, and that's the end of it.  There are no "send report" windows however.  Should I try this in normal boot mode instead?

Hi Matt

Yes, I can see some trouble in the latest HJT log that wasn't there in the last one.  In fact, it's similar to your first log before the Malwarebytes scan.  We'll try to fix things now by running a boot scan from a LiveCD.  Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk from here:
http://downloads.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/kav_rescue_2008.iso
The file is an .iso which is a disk image file.  It needs to be burned using a program like ImgBurn:
http://www.imgburn.com/
After installing ImgBurn, download Kaspersky, right click on the file, and choose 'Burn Using ImgBurn'.  After burning, leave the disk in the machine and reboot to the CD.  Follow the prompts and run the scan.  Post me the log and a new HJT.  Or, you can send them directly to me at numbersix6@yahoo.com.  It may be faster than going through AllExperts.
