Computer Security & Viruses/Mcafee

Question
Hello,

I have a question about Mcafee Virusscan 2009 edition.

I bought this product but have not installed because of something I heard.

Is it true that if you use this as your Antivirus software, and you do get a virus that you have to pay to remove the virus? Or is this just if the user can't figure a way to remove the virus on his own? When using Norton in the past if a virus was detected during a scan I had the option to remove, quaratine, etc. Can you clear this up for me? If it is true I am going to sell the product.

Also do you know if this is compatible with ie8? I have read that it is not after buying this product.

Thanks very much for your time.

Answer
I believe if you have the trial version and it detects a virus you have to pay for the software to be able to remove or quarantine the virus. I believe if you have the paid version there is not an extra charge to remove or quarantine a virus.

Myself, I use AVG anti-virus. It is free and has detected and removed viruses in the past that Norton's and McAfee would not. Here is the link for it: http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

Let me know if I can help you further.
