Q?
what Antivirus program can i use with W2000nt that will allow me to access internet and not slow comp down to inafective.

Answer
You could run free trials of several different Internet security suites (they give better protection than antivirus alone). That way you can make certain that your security program doesn't slow your computer too much before buying. I say "buying" because I get complaints all the time from people who are using free antivirus programs. You get what you pay for.

You could download either Kapersky Internet Security, which offers a free 30 day trial at http://kapersky.com or F-Secure's Complete Internet security suite, which offers a free thirty day trial: https://store.f-secure.com/cgi-bin/dlreg/ml=EN?ID=FSISTB&desid=TRIAL

Be sure to uninstall AVG before trying out another security suite, because they will fight each other and crash your computer. Always uninstall the current security suite before installing another.

You might not have heard of them before if you live in the U.S. because those companies don't advertise much, if at all in the U.S. But in the rest of the world, those two are among the most widely used and famous Internet security companies.
