Computer Security & Viruses - Sirf the web anonymously

Expert: James Filmer - 6/23/2009

Question
Dear James:

What's the best way to sufr the web anonymously?

I have seen several websites but most of the time the free web proxy servers are dead.

I was thinking in something like ProxySwitcher.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Bob

Answer
Dear Bob,

For IE, ProxySwitcher is a fine way to go.

However, if you use Firefox, the following links give you a wider variety of addons with free and paid versions (for at least one).

SwitchProxy: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/125

FoxyProxy: http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/
and FoxyProxy Plus - for automatically switching proxies and able to add a user name/password.

You can even use more than one, like FoxyProxy and httProxy, but be sure to read the reviews and instructions for use carefully to find the right one for you.
