Question
Symantec antivirus 10.0.0.359- complete full scan in just 4 minutes---------------
A friend of mine, send me a CD for virus problems, which contains following programs,
1) Norton Antivirus Corporate 10, 2) Norton Antivirus 2007, 3) NOD32 Antivirus 2.2.
I have installed Norton Antivirus Corporate 10, which installed without any pass word and apparently working very well, about 80MB live updates are also downloaded and installed. After initial installation
Its version is Symantec antivirus 10.0.0.359
Its quick scan is completed in one minute, but to my big surprise full scan is completed in 4 minutes.
Previously I used OneCare and Norton 2009 trial version. They completed the full scan in almost 90 minutes on same computer.
I am not sure it is working perfectly, as apparently to complete full scan in 4 minutes is not possible.
Is my computer is fully secured?

Answer
Hi Kalimullah,

Personally I don't think what your friend sent you was legit., okay even though you have Symantec antivirus 10.0.0.359 installed, I would suggest using Internet Explorer go to:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp

Click "Continue to Symantec Security Check", in the next window click No when asked if you want to close this window, that will bring you to a window where you should click Virus Detection.

Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/  and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.

I would also suggest downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.37 from:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
