Computer Security & Viruses - wifi

Expert: Doug Woodall - 7/17/2009

Question
Hello,
I have Vista and CA firewall. I am not sure about wifi and how secure it is. I also visit someone who uses a router that is not secure. Will my firewall protect me when I go online at either of those places? I am particularly concerned about the security of my bank account and other places where I pay bills.
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello Linda,
You should always try to only use a secure connection. However, if your updates are current and your Firewall settings are adequate, you should be OK.
Insure your Firewall is set to aggressive settings. And make sure all updates are current.
I applaud your concerns, many do not give their security enough thought and they end up with their identity stolen or worse.

Hope this helps.
