Question
Hi Brian

I do not have my XP disc as I am away from home for 4 months.  I have heard though with Dell laptops that came with WinXP you can select Control F11 at boot and it will bring you too a special recovery menu allowing you to reformat your hard drive and keep windows without the disc.  Have you heard of this?  I have also seen many forums where a person with good computer knowledge modifies code in a TXT file and uses it in conjunction with ComboFix.  Do you know about this?

Thank you again for taking the time to help me.  I truly do appreciate it.

Justin

Answer
Hi Justin

The ComboFix method will not work due to the MBR infection.  Some Dells do have the recovery console installed.  Upon boot, press Ctrl+F11 to (hopefully) bring up the console.
And you are most welcome...I'm just sorry that none of the "normal" methods have worked on this thing.
