Question
Was reading the LA Times when it hit. Pop ups saying I was infected with Trojan SPM/LX and directed me to a "Virus" site to puchase software. My desktop had a large sign saying "Your computer is infected", my desktop images were blurry.

I ran Malawarebytes AntiMalare - IT SEEMED TO WORK. Everything stopped,my desktop was pack to normal.

But I wanted to be sure, so I ran "HiJack This". Below is a copy of the report.

My question is: Do you think my computer is safe? Is it clean and safe, back to  normal? And lastly, Do I need to contact my bank, Credit card, etc because my identity and passwords were stolen? DO you think there were any security breaches or possible indentity theft?

Hi Brian

Trojan SPM/LX is a rogue anti-malware program, designed to trick you into purchasing their own dubious program to remove it.  So long as you did not go to the site to purchase the program by entering credit card numbers, you are most likely safe.  You did not include the MBAM log, so I can't tell you if there was anything more serious removed.  Regardless, your HJT log file is clean now, so your computer is secure.  If you have any further questions, just let me know.  Cheers!
