Question
Hi, my desk top has Windows XP Pro.  I Don't have internet on this computer.  I only use is for photo editing.  I don't plan on getting internet hooked up.  I have safely deleted a lot of programs I don't need or use.  The one I want to know about it LiveUpdate 1.9 Symantec.  It takes up a lot of MB and it says last use was in 2007.  Can I delete this to free up space with out it hurting my computer and still be able to run my photo editing? (Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 ).  Or can you tell me of other programs I might have but don't need?  I want to free up as much space as I can to make room for a lot of photos.  Any advice would help thank you for taking the time to read this Angela

Dear Angela,

You can remove LiveUpdate.

1.Click Start and then Control Panel.
2.In the control panel, double-click on Add / Remove Programs.
3.Look for Symantec or Norton items. LiveUpdate should be done last. Select the item and click 4.Remove or Change/Remove. Follow the instructions, click Yes to all when prompted.
NOTE: If you attempt to remove LiveUpdate and receive a warning about other Symantec applications being registered with LiveUpdate, click Yes. Ignore warning. Remove LiveUpdate.
5.Close the Add/Remove Programs. Close Control Panel. Restart, unless it automatically restarted.

There's also a tool, but should used only if LiveUpdate (or other Norton product) is not removed.
More discussion and a link to the Norton Removal tool is here: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-to-remove-Norton-Symantec-software-t43188.htm...

There's also manual LiveUpdate Removal: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/docid/1999092114074613?Open&...

Any other antivirus, or antispyware and third-party firewall programs (but not Windows Firewall) can be safely removed. About other programs, you'd have to list them.

Do you think you'll ever want to check online for Corel program updates?
