Computer Security & Viruses - Virus

Question
I have a PC with Windows Vista.  Just yesterday my computer would keep restarting.  I have a user set up as myself and a guest user.  I always use my personal user when I log on to the computer.  I noticed that when I log on as my own user, the computer will restart about 10 seconds after I log on.  But when I log in as a guest, the computer does not restart.

I assume I somehow have a virus under my guest logon from a file I've downloaded.  I've run AVG anti-virus several times, but still have not been able to stop by computer from restarting when I logon as my own user.  Any advice on how to get rid of this virus?

Answer
More than likely a virus would effect all users. I'm wondering if something is not right with your power settings. In XP you get to power settings one way by right-clicking the desktop, click "properties", click screensaver tab, then click the "power" button.

The only other thing I can think of is something that AVG does not detect. I think highly of AVG. However, unless you are running their whole security suite, you don't get protection from spyware, some trojans, and other nasties from the net. You have to run something else. I use Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are good programs. Spybot requires a little learning and computer knowledge. Malwarebytes is more automated. You basically download, install, update, and click the "scan" button. It does the rest.
Malwarebytes- www.malwarebytes.org
Spybot s and d- www.safer-networking.org

Forgot to mention. Both programs are free.
